program synopsis

The program is designed to prepare students with the skills necessary to meet today’s business demands and those for the future. Students will be provided with a fundamental knowledge of business functions, processes, and an understanding of business organizations in today’s global economy. The program provides students with a solid business core that includes an extensive background in the functional areas of banking and finance.

The program introduces students to the fundamentals of Banking and Financial studies and provides them with the skills necessary for a broad understanding of the theoretical and practical aspects of the banking and financial sectors functioning in a global economy characterized by continuous development, innovation, competition and change, and gaining greater importance for their growing role in the economy The main aim of the program is to:

(i) Produce graduates who are well-qualified in every area of financial sector, including banks and in government and private sector as an expert, manager, instructor or as an academician at the universities;

(ii) Produce graduates who are competent for jobs in banking, insurance, investment and commercial enterprises;

(iii) Deliver to students the functional aspects of all areas of finance using information technology;

(iv) Enable students to adapt to the changing environment of finance and technology in the real world situation

(v) Help individuals who are willing to work in the financial sector, particularly in the banking and investment area and provide students with a sound theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to operate in the financial services industry;

(vi) Produce graduates who have an appreciation of Information Technology (IT) and the organizational contexts within which these technologies can be deploy, in order to offer maximum benefit to the business.

The program introduce students to the field of IT, emphasizing on various IT concepts, principles, tools and their applications to business and management problems and practice. Students acquire relevant and modern IT skills and expertise that will enable them to competently develop IT-based business and management applications and solutions including those relevant to the field of banking and finance and its practice.

The degree focuses on integrating theory and practice, so that graduates possess the ability to communicate effectively, understand the internal and external environments of business, and appreciate the legal, ethical, strategic and behavioral contexts of business decisions. Graduates on this program benefits from the technology emphasis philosophy of AIT as a technological university, a focus that better prepare them for their career choices, including continued study in a graduate program
